Tickets To Greece Await Their Holders

More than 700 young chess players representing 12 countries and 50 regions of Russia are competing these days in the children’s tournament of the festival, the RSSU School Champion Cup. We should remind you that chess players placed 1-3 in their groups will advance to the European School Championship that will be held in Greece this June.  The names of the winners and prize holders will be known in three days. And now when there are still three more rounds to play we will define the leaders in the respective age categories.

In the tournament of the youngest age category among the boys U9 Georgy Vdovin (Moscow) shows a 100% result that makes 6 points out of 6. Nikolai Ogorodnikov (the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area) is the runner up. The leader has half point lead. Nine participants have earned 5 points.

Galina Mironenko (Volgograd) and Daria Bondareva (Moscow) are leading in the girls’ tournament of the same age category. Each of them has 5.5 points. Eva Stepanyan (Stavropol region), Sofiia Dashina (Krasnodar) and Maria Sovina (Ivanovo) have earned a half point less.

Nikolay Belkov (Vladivostok) and Arseniy Nesterov (Velikiy Novgorod) with 5.5 points are leading in the boys’ U11 tournament. The group of 9 participants having 5 points each follows the leaders. 

Anna Podgornova (Samara region) with 100% result is the only leader of the girls’ U11 tournament. Five chess players with one points less are chasing her. Ronit Levitan (Israel), Ekaterina Granovskaya (Moscow), Ekaterina Levicheva (Yaroslav region), Kamaliya Bulatova (Tatarstan) and Glafira Usacheva (Moscow region) are among them.

Danila Moiseev (Tula) and Maksim Klimenko (Altayskiy) are sharing the leadership in the boys’ U13 group. Both have gained 5.5 points. They have half point lead over Anton Konaplev (Smolensk), Aital Mestnikov (Yakutsk), Kazybek Umbetov (Kazakhstan) and Artur Davtyan (Armenia).

Arpine Grogoryan (Armenia) is the leader of the tournament among the girls of the same age category. She has 5.5 points. Yana Spiridonova (Kazan) and Anna Kochukova (Borisoglebsk) have 5 points each.

Saparmyrat Atabayev (Turkmenistan) and Ruslan Shavshin (Dagestan) are leading in the boys’ U15 group. Both have 5.5 points. Grigory Aivazian (Novokubansk, Krasnodar region) and Bulat Nizamov (Kazan) are chasing the leaders.

Irina Drogovoz (Khanty-Mansiysk) having several victories in the Moscow Open is the only leader in the girls’ U15 tournament. She has 5.5 points. Vitoria Zajtzeva (Kaluga region) has a half point less. Antonina Resmyatova (Krasnoyarsk) takes the third line of the chart.

The games of the seventh round will be played on Thursday, Feb 7. The names of the winners and the prize holders will be announced at the official ceremony closing of the Cup that will be held on Saturday, Feb 8 at 16:00.
